BHRT (Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy)

Introduction

As we age our body's ability to produce hormones declines.  By the time we reach our forties and fifties, this hormone deficiency can lead to multiple problems such as depression, low sex drive, chronic fatigue, chronic injuries and pain, arteriosclerosis and the early stages of osteoporosis.  Even more commonly, we experience an increase in body fat and a decrease in muscle mass.  And without an adequate musculoskeletal structure to support our joints, we put additional stress on our ligaments and tendons.  Once the fibers that stabilize our joints deteriorate, it is only a matter of time before the joints themselves become more prone to injury.

Although we can't turn back the clock, with the help of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) we can not only reduce our chances of experiencing some of the more debilitationg processes of aging, but take preventative measures to strengthen our musculoskeletal structure and avoid painful and sometimes crippling conditions.

How BHRT Works

Unlike synthetic hormones produced by the pharmacological industry, bioidentical hormones use only those molecules whose chemical structures are exactly like the hormes natrually produced by the body.  These hormones may restore us to our optimal level of functioning by acting as keys, unlocking receptors in our cells, and releasing the powers of healing and longevity held within them.

All Bioidentical Hormones Are Not Equal

Bioidentical Hormones are produced by Compounding Pharmacies, which are regulated by the state boards of pharmacy, and run by state-licensed pharmacists.  After reviewing and working with compouding pharmacies across the nation, we work with only the best.

Treatment

Like other clinics or physicians' offices, BHRT treatment at APRSM begins with a complete physical examination and a comprehensive blood test.  This is necessary not only to determine the cause of any presenting problems, but to establish a physiological "baseline," or starting point, from which we can begin our work.  The major difference at APRSM is that in addition to the physcal battery of tests used to assess the problem, we will spend the necessary time to talk with you to get an accurate idea of your needs.  We do this because over time we have discovered that while physical evidence is important, sometimes the most important component to choosing the correct treatment for patients is simply to listen.
